The Powerful Vowels Word Board has been designed as a multisensory phonics tool that we could confidently rely on to support our explicit, systematic, synthetic phonics lessons with learners in the early stages. Some world-renowned phonics programs emphasise that digraphs should be taught as two distinct letters representing a single sound, hence there are no digraph tiles included in the standard set. These magnetic letters and boards for phonics are recommended by SPELDNSW and SPELDSA.

The board does not fold and is designed to fit neatly in a child’s lap. The dimensions of 40cm x 30cm differ to the original foldable kits. The board is made of sturdy MDF and the magnetic grapheme tiles are neatly organised on one surface. This display allows you to quickly find the tiles you need. Once you are finished, simply stack the folders to keep them stored together.

PLEASE NOTE the graphemes are NOT printed directly on the boards. This has been requested to allow users to set the tiles in any format required such as alphabetical, QWERTY or limited to small number of graphemes to reduce cognitive load.

The grapheme tiles are made of EVA foam with a magnetic backing. Children enjoy handling and lining up these chunky foam letter tiles to form words. They are perfect for word building in the classroom.

One surface of this board is magnetic and both sides have a dry-wipe writing surface with pen for children to write their words.
