Based in Sydney, Australia, I am a primary-trained teacher working in Learning and Support. Working with different students across the school means carrying resources with me all day. I have spent years looking for a literacy resource that would be powerful, engaging, and portable. I decided to make it and see if there were other teachers who would find it useful.
Every family member of a teacher can attest to the time that is spent searching (or designing from scratch), printing, laminating, cutting and maybe even sticking on magnetic tape. Our only hope is that these resources are not bent or immediately rammed inside a mouth. We are all tired of making our own resources. We need tools provided that are effective, engaging, durable, portable and affordable.
I have developed this resource in consultation with educators, speech therapists, parents AND children. These are a portable and durable multisensory tool which enables learners to use their eyes, ears and hands, while building fluency in the underlying skills needed for reading and writing. The magnetic foam letters for phonics and spelling come in a durable wipe-clean kit come complete with a dry erase pen for children to practice writing the words.
